A BOLTON MP has warned that high levels of personal debt could lead to another financial crisis.
Sir David Crausby said that more attention needs to be paid to debts held by families across the country, with the average household now owing £2,400 on credit cards.
The Bolton North East MP said: "When household debt is as high as government debt we have to treat it as an issue. We need a much broader discussion of the problems facing individuals and families if we are to avoid another financial crisis.
"With so many people coping with household debt month to month it would not take much economic disruption to cause huge problems for thousands, if not millions, across the country."
