Proposals to turn the building into ‘The Mill’ were announced recently on social media but have since fallen through.

A bar, nightclub and a restaurant were part of the plans to transform the vacant building.

The club closed its doors in January 2015 after almost a decade due ‘trading conditions’ and a reduction of customers.

Mike Hajewskyj, from the town and who was behind The Mill announcement, said this week an agreement could not be reached over the lease with the building’s owners.

The two-storey building went up for auction this week with a guide price of £160,000 at the AJ Bell Stadium in Manchester.

When the club first opened it had capacity for 1,260 people.

It was previously known as Jumpin’ Jaks, Golden Palms and The Mecca.
