A SAWN-off shotgun was the weapon fired at a Bolton home in a targeted attack, police have now confirmed.
A double-glazed front bay window of a bungalow in Ashbourne Avenue, The Haulgh, was broken when it was shot at on Wednesday, January 11.
Residents said they heard a loud bang and minutes later police descended on the normally quiet residential street and cordoned off the property, where none of the occupants was injured.
Police have now confirmed there was a single discharge of a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun at around 7.10pm although whether that means one or two cartridges is unclear.
A force spokesman said: "It is believed to be a targeted attack but the motive is not known at this time.
"The description of the offenders is limited to two persons on a moped or motorbike, both wearing motorcycle helmets and the passenger carrying what appears to be a holdall/rucksack."
It is not been confirmed if the pillion passenger was the gunman and if the shooting was a drive-by or the pair stopped and one dismounted to fire.
There have been no arrests and detectives continue to appeal for anyone with information to call 101, quoting incident number 1906 of January 11 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, 0800 555 111.
