A MAN was terrified after waking up to find three men armed with knives in his Blackburn home.

Detectives said the robbers got away with a BMW 5 Series 4x4 car, mobile phones and cash during the incident at around 1.05am.

Police said the 27-year-old victim woke up to find three men armed with knives upstairs in his house.

They are then said to have threatened, demanded cash and marched him outside to where his relative’s BMW was parked up.

Police said the victim managed to run back inside the house while the robbers were searching the vehicle for money.

The robbers then drove off in the car and also escaped with two iPhones and around £100 in cash.

Det Sgt Andy Horne confirmed police have stepped up patrols in the area and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

The robbery is not being linked to a jewellery raid on a 68-year-old woman’s home in Blackburn on Tuesday.

DS Horne said: “This was a very disturbing incident considering that the men have managed to get into someone’s home and confront a man in his own bedroom.

“They have proceeded to demand money, threatening both the victim and his brother who was also in the house at the time, with knives.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the stolen car with the registration BK56 OSR or anyone with any information that could assist with our investigation.

“I would like to reassure local residents that we have stepped up patrols so please feel free to approach an officer if you are concerned.”

One of the robbers is thought to be mixed race, aged around 20, 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins all, of medium build with short, dark hair. He was wearing a black Nike jacket or jumper.

A second man was described as white, around the same height and age as the other offender, with a chubby face and short dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident reference 0062 of January 19th.
