A SCHOOLGIRL is recovering in hospital after being hit by a car in Ramsbottom.
The 13-year-old — believed to be a pupil at Woodhey High School in the town — was hit by a Toyota Avensis outside The Fusilier pub in Bolton Road West at 5.20pm on Tuesday evening.
Police said the driver of the car remained at the scene after the accident to assist with enquiries, while the young girl was taken to hospital for assessment.
The force later confirmed that while she had been kept in hospital over night, scans revealed that she had no internal injuries and was described as being in a stable condition.
Following the accident, Bolton Road West was closed, leading to long delays for commuters in and around Ramsbottom.
