A BURY couple have been handpicked to star in Kellogg’s latest TV advert to show the nation how they eat their cornflakes.

Earlier this year, Kellogg’s took to social media to ask cereal super fans how they eat their perfect bowl.

Chris Hall and Mark Hearfield, who live off Manchester Road, were chosen for one of eight lucky slots in the cereal maker’s latest ad after proving they were Kellogg’s Corn Flakes biggest fans.

The couple, who have been together for 22 years, were whittled down from hundreds of applicants in an intensive interview process for passionately disagreeing on the best ways to eat cornflakes.

Sales director Chris, 42, who favours his cornflakes with hot milk and honey, said: “I grew up eating cornflakes, everyone in the family ate them it was big part of our breakfast.”

Last month, a film crew visited the pair’s home and took over their kitchen to shoot the ad - even their dog made a debut munching down their favourite bowl of “room temperature” Kellogg’s Corn Flakes.

Hairdresser Mark, 59, who will only have his cornflakes at room temperature, added: “It was exciting for everyone involved, even our dog loved it. On the shoot day she kept muscling in on my cornflakes looking for five minutes of fame!

“We can’t wait to see it on the television, Chris can’t sleep he’s that excited. It was so much fun to be involved and we love the pictures that were shot for the campaign. At the end of the day, it’s not every day you get to be in a Kellogg’s advert.”

The ad campaign features a cast of eight real families and individuals, all genuine fans, talking about their ‘perfect bowl’ of cornflakes.

The decision to launch the nine month marketing campaign comes after a five year break in commercial advertising for the breakfast cereal.

A spokesperson from Kellogg’s, said: “We have seen a change in how people are eating cereal but also in what they are having for breakfast and we wanted to capture how our customers are eating cornflakes.

“After a long break it is time for us to start talking about corn flakes again; our cast remind people what they love about this iconic cereal.”

It debuts tonight in the Coronation Street ad break.
