A BOLTON singer has teamed up with a fellow X Factor hopeful for a collaboration of new music.

Saskia Rosimus, from Lostock, is known to television audiences after appearing on The X Factor in September as part of girl band Girl Next Door.

But now her voice is been giving a platform of its own - with the help of a fellow X Factor contestant Jamie Benkert.

The pair, met during filming of the ITV singing competition and have stayed in touch ever since.

Jamie has turned to Saskia for support for his new material being released this year.

The 19-year-old appears in his music video for self-penned track Stay (4 AM) and will be recording an acoustic version of the song with him later this month.

She said: “It was nice to be asked to be the girl in Jamie’s video.

“The limelight is rightly on him for the video and it’s a perfect opportunity to show off his skills as a writer and a singer.

“He has asked me cover the song with him on an acoustic track, I was taken aback. The song is amazing and I really love the opportunity to lend my vocals to it.

“Taking part in the show you meet so many people and it is great to reconnect and make opportunities to help each other.”

Despite receiving high praise from show judges - including music mogul Simon Cowell - Girl Next Door crashed out just one step away from the final live shows.

Since the group’s journey ended, Saskia has decided to set out on her own and, as well as teaming up with Jamie, has plans to record her own songs this year.

She added: “Being on the show was an emotional experience, You are trying to get your dream so it’s very hard when it doesn’t happen but it was also an amazing experience.

“It’s difficult going solo, you get used to having three people on stage with you. It’s a lot more nerve wracking but it’s also really nice because you can make all your own decisions.

“With the New Year I’m ready to release my own stuff.”

Jamie's appearance on the show helped him hit headlines when judges compared him to previous runner-up and chart-topper Olly Murs.

But the 26-year-old from Northampton is now hoping a name for himself with a new look and new image.

He added: "It is crazy, you don't realise how powerful the show is. I only had three appearances but because I had the added attention of the comparison with Olly Murs I ended up on shows like This Morning and in newspapers and magazines.

"It was never my intention to grab attention in that way but since then I've been concentrating on my own music and doing lots of small gigs.

"This year I'm focussing on getting my music out and I'm really happy to be working with Saskia. She's a great girl who gets on with everyone and she has a really powerful voice.

"We had planned to get her on the original track but we didn't have time so I'm looking forward to recording the acoustic. I really want people to hear her sing, most people know her from the X Factor but it's time she was heard on a proper track."

Stay (4 AM) is out now.
