TRAFFIC police had a busy weekend in Bolton – catching motorists who were breaking the law and putting other drivers at risk.

Officers on patrol from the Roads Policing Unit posted on social media some of the encounters they had with the public during their shifts.

On Saturday night an unoccupied red Fiat Punto was seized by a Traffic PCSO after it was “dumped on a dangerous bend” and was found to have no vehicle tax.

The following day, a blue Vauxhall Corsa was stopped in Wordsworth Street, Halliwell, and roadside checks revealed there was no insurance policy in place.

Officers impounded the vehicle and issued the driver with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR), which could result in a fine, a court appearance or an awareness course.

Another vehicle was stopped in Edgar Street in Bolton town centre because its rear lights were not working.

Police conducted a visual inspection of the car and found one of the front tyres had its cord exposed and so a TOR was issued.
