A WORLD renowned band will be bringing the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera to Bolton this Saturday.

Just over a week after performing at the Victoria Hall with Big Band singer Andy Prior to raise thousands of pounds for Rotary Club charities, Smithills Band accompanied by singers and led by their musical director Chris Wormald are returning once again to the venue to raise as much money as possible to keep Bolton's largest concert venue open.

Mr Wormald said: "The combined Smithills Big Bands will perform many items including Michael Buble’s Feeling Good and Glenn Miller’s Moonlight Serenade and In The Mood, but the highlight of the Gala Concert will be the Grand Finale of The Phantom of The Opera, which celebrated its world-wide 30th anniversary only this month."

Mr Wormald will conduct more than 220 Smithills instrumentalists and singers, together with Robert Aston at the grand piano, in performing highlights from the record-breaking musical for the very first time to bring what he describes as" a fantastic climax what promises to be another superb Smithills evening of music making".

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £6 and £5 concessions and can be bought at the door.
