IT’S often said that school is the best time of your life — and these pictures tend to add weight to that theory.

This week we journey back in time 35 years to have a look at some of our most fun school pictures from 1981.

It was the year that Prince Charles married Diana and Bucks Fizz won the Eurovision Song Contest with Making Your Mind Up.

And it seems as though there were plenty of successful stage performances across the borough’s schools that year, too.

Among images in our files were elaborate productions of The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew and the Wizard of Oz.

Elsewhere, at Deane School, one teacher got more than he bargained for after asking pupils to give a presentation on their hobbies.

And David Schofield, aged 14, promptly rode his hobby to school – a chestnut horse named Malan, whose guest appearance in the classroom is among this week’s pictures.
