A SPECIAL Halloween treat awaits fans of ghosts and ghouls at a town centre pub on Monday.

Ye Olde Man and Scythe will be hosting a live paranormal investigation, conducted by paranormal specialist Don Philips and hosted by former Coronation Street actor Andrew Lancel.

Patrons will have the chance to join in a question and answer session about the ghostly goings on at the pub — which is said to be haunted — from 10pm.

The full investigation will then be held from midnight to 2am, streamed live to a global audience on the ‘Is This Paranormal’ Facebook page.

Ye Olde Man and Scythe hit the headlines earlier this year when a Chinese artist claimed to have stolen the ghost of the Earl of Derby from the pub and put him on display at a Manchester art gallery.

Spooky security footage also emerged the the Churchgate pub in 2014, appearing to show a peculiar presence at one end of the bar.

The pub’s owner, Richard Greenwood, said: “At his last investigation, Don found all kinds of voices. I was there for some of it and it was genuinely freaky.

“Our videos have done very well on Facebook before and there is a big audience in America who are interested in us, so I’m hoping we might get millions of people watching.”

Mr Philips said: “The previous investigation produced enough evidence to substantiate the claim that Ye Olde Man and Scythe is haunted - by who or what is to be determined.

“The next part of the investigation will go deeper in the search for answers and examine the alleged CCTV footage more closely.”

To be in with a chance to be a part of the investigation, take part in the competition running on the ‘Is This Paranormal’ Facebook page.
