POLICE raided a house in Blackburn in a bid to arrest a man suspected of supplying Class A drugs.

An arrest warrant was served at a house in Whalley New Road this morning but the man who police were attempting to apprehend was not there.

A police spokesman said enquiries are ongoing to find the man, who is in his 30s and from Blackburn.

Two police vans and a patrol car were parked at the front of the house and three officers could be seen guarding the alleyway to the rear of the property.

A police spokesman said: "We attended a property on Whalley New Road this morning in order to carry out an arrest in connection with drugs offences.

"Several officers attended, positioned at various locations around the property, but were stood down shortly before 10am when it became clear the man being sought was not present at the address.

"Our enquiries into his whereabouts are continuing and we would like to thank residents for their patience this morning."
