FURTHER details have come to light about road closures to allow for the filming of a scene for a hit BBC drama's seasonal special.

The production crew behind the popular show Last Tango In Halifax need to shut Mansell Way, Aspinall Way and Aspinall Close on the Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park in Horwich for one day's recording.

Access for traffic will be limited between 8am and 5pm on Sunday October 30.

A staff member from Red Production Company's series four production office – based at Sunset Business Park in Manchester Road, Kearsley – said in a letter to North West Ambulance Service: "The company plans to film scenes of a minor car crash on the roundabout and so has requested road closures and traffic management on these roads.

"Restricted access will be allowed but traffic will need to be held for periods of up to five minutes whilst cameras roll.

"We have scheduled this filming for a Sunday to cause as least inconvenience as possible."

The collision between two stunt cars will be staged outside Hitachi Automotive Systems in Aspinall Way, a hand-drawn map reveals.

A spokeswoman for Red Production Company said: "It's to do with a two-part Christmas special and that's about as much as we can say at the moment."

Whether Bolton will appear as itself or is being used to double as different town is unknown.

Bolton Council confirmed its official temporary road closure notice and accompanying map originally incorrectly stated the filming and road closures would take place the day before, on Saturday October 29.

However, the mistake was discovered after several people pointed out that, if true, this would clash with Bolton Wanderers' home league match against Port Vale.

It is understood there may have been an error on the original application form from the production firm that was carried through to the council's legal notice.
