A SUSPECTED slurry spillage has killed wildlife in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
Residents in Conway Crescent, Barnoldswick, which overlooks the canal, said the area smelt "like a sewage farm," and reported rotting fish and snails.
The Environment Agency said oxygen levels in the water were very low.
British Waterways and the Environment Agency are now working together to remove the dead fish and confirm the cause.
