A FATHER-OF-ONE who headbutted the mother of his child must attend a domestic violence programme.

Burnley magistrates heard how police had been called to Adam Hargreaves' home in Helmsdale Road, Nelson, 12 times over reports of domestic abuse against partner Stevie Lee Taylor.

Hargreaves, 19, now has four convictions for attacking Miss Taylor, the mother of their 16-month-old son.

In the latest episode he attacked her after an all-day drinking spree, the court heard.

Hargreaves, subject to court orders at the time of the attack, admitted assault by beating.

Elizabeth Read, prosecuting, said Hargreaves had been drinking with friends. Following an argument, he headbutted Miss Taylor.

Mrs Read said the number of times the police had attended the couple's house was concerning.

Sarah Lyle, defending, said it was "shocking", there had been so many police call outs and it was clear Hargreaves needed help.

Hargreaves was given a two-year community order with supervision and the community domestic violence programme. He must also pay £95 costs and £100 compensation.
