A KWIK Save branch in Burnley has closed today after workers were made redundant, union bosses have claimed.
Bosses at retail union Usdaw said that staff at the Cog Lane store in Accrington Road were told this morning they were losing their jobs.
It is one of 22 across the country that the company told the union would be closing, the union claims.
The union has demanded an urgent meeting with Kwik Save management.
The company declined to comment or confirm or deny the union's claim.
Joanne McGuinness, Usdaw national officer, said: "Staff arrived at the store this morning to be told they were being made redundant and that the store will close today.
"We will again make it clear to Kwik Save that this is not the way to treat hard working staff who have shown great loyalty to the company in very difficult circumstances."
