A MAN jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire when he was stopped on suspicion of driving without insurance.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Andrew Shaun Jeal, 22, gave false details to the police officer.

But the man whose name he gave was a disqualified driver and Jeal quickly changed his tune when told he was being arrested for that offence which can result in a prison sentence.

Jeal, of Delph Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving without insurance on another occasion.

He was ordered to do 130 hours unpaid work, banned from driving for six months and ordered to pay £75 costs.

Peter Wild, prosecuting, said if there was a moral to the story it was if you are going to give false details make sure it is not someone who is in a worse position than you.

Sian Hall, defending, said nobody could be more remorseful than her client who was trying to establish a landscaping business.
