A CHURCH showcased the talents of the people who live in its neighbourhood.

Red Lane United Reformed Church in Breightmet invited locals along to a special day to show off their skills in The Breightmet Talent Event.

The event was split into two sections – one for those exhibiting and demonstrating their talents and the other for performers. The former featured matchstick models, pottery, card-making and a whole lot more – including vegetable sculptures and tea-bag folding – while the performers will include African dancers, Breightmet Community Choir and two sisters who are talented musicians.

Church secretary Barry Bradshaw said the event had been a huge success.

Mr Bradshaw said: “We are all blessed with talents of one kind or another so this seemed an appropriate way for us to highlight some of those talents and at the same time bond with the community, which we are always seeking to do.”
