Man pleads guilty to possessing child pornography

A 28-YEAR-OLD man has pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children.
Matthew Preston, of Finch Avenue, pleaded guilty to possessing category B and C images during September 2012 and February 22, 2013.
He was remanded on unconditional bail until August 31.

Drug drive disqualified

A MAN has been fined and disqualified from driving for being under the influence of drugs.
Mohammed Usman, aged 28, pleaded guilty to the offence at Bolton Magistrates Court. 
He drove a Vauxhall insignia in St Helens Road in Bolton on May 8, while under the influence of drugs.
The drug driver, who lives at Waters Edge in Farnworth was ordered to pay a £150 fine a surcharge of £30, £85 in court costs and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Man withheld data in case

TOMI Martins, aged 32, of Kylemore Avenue, Rumworth, has been given six penalty points and ordered to pay £811 in fines and court costs after admitting to Salford magistrates that, on January 15, he refused to tell police who was driving a BMW when an alleged offence took place.

Driver banned

PETER Kolompar, aged 19, of Mornington Road, Heaton, has been banned from driving for six months and ordered to pay £811 in fines and court costs after admitting to Salford magistrates that he drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Bankfield Street, Bolton, without a licence or insurance on May 10.

Drink driver’s 14-month ban

A DRINK driver has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 14 months.
Marly Gough, aged 23, of Turton Road, Turton, drove a BMW 114 on the northbound M61 near Swinton on August 1 while over the legal alcohol limit.
Gough admitted the offence to Salford magistrates and was fined £300 also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
His driving ban will be reduced by 14 weeks if he agrees to pay up to £250 to go on a Government-approved driving awareness court.

Two-year driving ban

A WOMAN has been ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work after failing to give police a breath test.
Lindsay Robinson, aged 33, of Cawdor Court, Farnworth, was caught driving a silver Vauxhall Corsa in Bloom Street, Manchester, on July 9 without a licence and, when asked her to do a breath test, she refused.
Robinson admitted driving without a licence or insurance and refusing to give a breath test at Salford Magistrates Court.
She was also banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay £170 court costs.

Clothes thief warned of jail

A THIEF has been warned he could go to jail if he reoffends in the next year.
Lee Hamilton, aged 37, of Winchester Way, Breightmet, admitted to Bury magistrates that he stole clothing worth £156 from Loofes Clothing Store and clothing worth £29 from New Look, both in Bury on August 15.
He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £105 court costs.

Man drove through red light 

A 73-YEAR-old man drove through a busy Bolton town centre junction 27 seconds after the lights turned red.
John Byrom, of Grosvenor Street, Bolton, was convicted at Salford Magistrates Court of driving through the junction of Trinity Street and Manchester Road on November 18 last year.
He was given three penalty points and ordered to pay £240 in fines and court costs.

Man drives through red light 

DRIVING through a junction 22 seconds after the lights turned red led to a Great Lever man getting into trouble with the police.
Sajid Mehmood, aged 30, of Southbrook Road, was convicted at Salford Magistrates Court of driving through the red light at the junction of St Helens Road and Atherleigh Way in Leigh on May 22.
He was given three penalty points and ordered to pay £151 in fines and court costs.

Driver guilty

JANOS Nemeth, aged 22, of Bertha Street, Bolton, has been given seven penalty points and ordered to pay £921 in fines and court costs after admitting that he drove a Mazda in Waters Meeting Road, Bolton, without a licence, insurance or MOT on June 7.

Assault man sentenced

ANTHONY Callan, aged 26, of Sonning Drive, Over Hulton has been given a community order after being convicted by Salford magistrates of assaulting a woman in Little Hulton on April 20.
Callan had denied the offence but was found guilty after a trial.
He must do 80 hours of unpaid work, pay his victim £100 compensation and pay £285 court costs.

Youth, 15, must pay towards door repair

A SCHOOLBOY from Farnworth has appeared in court after a shop had to pay £1,000 to repair a metal door he damaged.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, damaged the door at Lowry Mill in Lees Street, Swinton, on July 1.
Three days later, he committed an assault in Swinton.
The boy admitted criminal damage and assault to Salford Youth Court and was ordered to abide by the terms of a behaviour contract for six months.
He must also pay £250 compensation to the shop.

Ban for crash flee driver

A MAN who caused a car crash and then drove off has been banned from driving for six months.
Chhagan Kapil Arund, aged 26, of Somerton Road, Bradley Fold, was driving Audi A3 in Deansgate, Manchester City on February 5 when he crashed into a Honda Jazz car and drove off.
Arund denied driving without due care and attention, failing to stop at the scene of a crash, failing to report a crash, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
He denied all five charges but was found guilty after a trial at Salford Magistrates' Court.
Arund must also pay £1,048 in fines and court costs.

Dangerous dog owner can keep pet

THE OWNER of a dangerous dog can keep owning animals — but his pet must be put down.
A Staffordshire bull terrier called Keano injured Andrew Dixon in Salford on March 22 and the animal's owner, Waco Martin Piesse-Mills, aged 38, of Bank Street, Little Hulton, was charged.
He admitted being the owner of a dangerously out-of-control dog in a public place to Salford magistrates and the bench decided that that dog must be put down unless an appeal is made by August 31.
Prosecutors asked the court to ban Piesse-Mills from owning pets but magistrates refused.
He was ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work and to pay £1,000 compensation to Mr Dixon.

Man in court 

A HORWICH man has appeared in court after committing a motoring offence.
Tim Arnold, aged 41, of Medway Drive, admitted to Salford magistrates that he was in charge of a Vauxhall Insignia in Trafford Park while over the legal alcohol limit.
He was ordered to do 110 hours of unpaid work and was given 10 penalty points.
Arnold must pay £210 court costs.

Litter lout fined £220 by magistrates

A FARNWORTH man has been ordered to pay £342 in fines and court costs for dropping litter.
Imran Khan, of Bolton Road, Farnworth, dropped litter in New Bailey Street, Salford, on January 20 and was charged when an offence under the Environmental Protection Act.
The charge was proved at Salford Magistrates Court in his absence.

Man banned from contact

A MAN has been banned from contacting a woman for at least a year after admitting to Salford magistrates that he caused her annoyance and anxiety by sending unwanted messages to her on the internet.
Paul Froggatt, aged 30, of Westwood Close, Farnworth, committed the offence while subject to a 12-month conditional charge given by the same court after he was convicted of harassment.
However, magistrates decided to take no action on his breach of that suspended sentence order and instead ordered Froggatt to pay £385 in fines and court costs.

‘Hardship’ case driver spared ban

A WOMAN has been spared a driving ban after magistrates decided it would cause her exceptional hardship.
Marcianne Uwimana, aged 46, of Tern Avenue, Farnworth, admitted to Salford magistrates that, on January 4, she failed to tell police who was driving a Volkswagen Fox when an alleged offence took place.
As she already had penalty points, there was a chance Uwimana could have been banned from the road.
However, magistrates said there were mitigating circumstances in that a ban would cause her exceptional hardship and that she had shown genuine remorse about the offence, which she described to the court as an oversight and not deliberate.
Uwimana must pay £205 in fines and court costs. 

Jail for prolific thief

A THIEF has been jailed for eight months after admitting theft.
Saul Francis Jones, aged 29, of Bedford Street, Bolton, targeted branches of Boots and Superdrug in Bolton on nine separate occasions between April 13 and July 24.
He stole razors, perfume, aftershave and an electric razor with a combined value of £1,200.
Jones admitted nine counts of theft to Salford magistrates and they jailed him after stating the offences were so serious because Jones is a prolific offender who has failed to respond to court orders.
He must also pay £140 court costs.

Shoplifter jailed for clothes theft

A THIEF has been jailed for 12 weeks after shoplifting clothes from Sports Direct in Bolton town centre.
Jonathon Hodson, aged 42, of Church Road, Kearsley, admitted to Salford magistrates that he stole £155 of clothes from the Victoria Square store on August 12.
Magistrates said Hodson had shown a flagrant disregard for court orders because the offence was committed soon after he was released from custody after he was convicted for similar incidents.

Yob fined over racial abuse

A YOB who hurled racist abuse at people in the street has been spared jail.
Krzysztof Tylek, aged 37, of Balmoral Road, Farnworth, admitted to Salford magistrates that he used racially aggravated abusive words to cause someone to feel distressed in Manchester on August 9.
Tylek committed the offence while being subject of a suspend sentence imposed by Trafford magistrates after her assaulted two police officers and committed four thefts.
However, magistrates decided to give him another chance and instead ordered him to pay £440 in fines and court costs.

Driver fined

HOSHYAR Nader, aged 28, of Derby Street, Bolton, has been ordered to pay £921 in fines and court costs after admitting to Salford magistrates that he drove a Mercedes car in Derby Street, Bolton, on May 13 without a licence or insurance.
