BOLTON’S young stars have been congratulated on their GCSE success — with a number of schools seeing their pass rate soar.

Cllr Ann Cunliffe, Cabinet Member for education, schools, safeguarding and looked after children, Cllr Ann Cunliffe said: “Congratulations to all our students who have achieved these results.

“Each year brings a new set of challenges in the way GCSEs are calculated, and we must not forget that at the centre of results day are our pupils, who work extremely hard to achieve the grades they desire to go on to further education and training. I would also like to thank all the teachers and parents who have offered support along the way. Exams are always a culmination of several years of hard work by everyone involved and I would like to offer my congratulations to them all.”

Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Linda Thomas, added: “These results are the culmination of years of hard work and commitment from the students and their school or college in equal measures. We recognise the importance of education to the aspirations of the Bolton family and these results show that by working together, with the support of parents and tutors, great things can be achieved.”
