MUSIC fans are in for a treat tonight – with the first instalment of the Bolton Live extravaganza.

Over the weekend fans will descend on the Macron Stadium to enjoy a thrilling line-up of live music acts.

Tonight DJ's Jimmy Musgrave and Paul Thompson, known as The Vinyl Countdown, Secret Affair, The Transmitters and The Jade Assembly will perform.

Fans are also in for a musical delight with a set from headline band From the Jam, which includes original bassist Bruce Foxton. The artists will perform in the 5,000 capacity Premier Suite and the festival kicks off at 6pm.

Damian Chadwick, venue controller at Macron Stadium, said it promised to be a fabulous event.

He said: “After months of planning, the wait is finally over and Bolton Live is here.

“We’ve really enjoyed putting together the cards for both nights and we can’t wait to open the doors of the Premier Suite on Saturday evening.

“From Scouting for Girls to From the Jam, we have it all over two days.

“We’ve a whole host of different bands playing which means there is something for everybody.

“This weekend is just the start, we want to put Bolton back on the entertainment map, moving forward, our aim is to bring bigger acts and have even bigger nights!”

Tomorrow the event continues at 6pm with chart toppers Scouting For Girls as the headline act.

The English pop rock band will be supported by solo singer Ellie Dibben, Bolton-based rock band Alex James and the Sound as well as Reverend and the Makers, The Brew and France.

The event has been organised to officially launch the opening of a new events portal by Macron venue chiefs’ who have also teamed up with Bolton Live Community Group, who will provide social media and online coverage of each Bolton Live event.
