WALKDEN actress Catherine Tyldesley is better known for hot-footing it across the cobbles of Coronation Street than stepping out into a concert arena.

But now the 32-year-old is letting her vocals do the talking as she launches a singing career with the release of her first single.

She took to Twitter this week to announce the release of her new RnB and salsa infused single Rise.

An album, also entitled Rise, is due for release this November.

The mum-of-one appeared on Loose Women this week, walking out to her new single, to talk about her decision to take up the mic.

She said: “I’ve always sung, since I was a kid really and I used to sing a lot between acting work.

“It’s been on the back-boiler for a while and then I thought, you know what, I’m really missing this.

“The album has kind of come out of the blue so I’m really excited.

“It is predominately jazz, it’s kind of a mixture. I’m eclectic in what I listen too.”

Catherine, who has played Eva Price in Coronation Street since 2011, hinted at a potential future duet with her co-star, onscreen boyfriend and former X-Factor winner, Shayne Ward.

Her “huge passion” for signing is also being shared with her 18-month-old son Alfie who has been by her side in the recording studios where she has been recording tracks with producer James McMillan.

She added: “When the music stuff started happening I wanted Alfie to come everywhere and be involved in everything.

“You know what? He loves music. He’s been there jumping along, it’s all about involving him. We do it as a family.”

Catherine will be performing at the Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays on December 3 following a show at the Brasserie Zedel in London on September 10.
