A FORMER BT boss has swapped Asia and the Pacific to join a Pendle company.

Ian McKenzie, ex-chief operating officer for BT's Asia Pacific region, has joined Nelson-based Daisy Communications as its non-executive chairman.

The 56-year-old has more than 40 years of experience in the communications and broadcast industry having worked in key international markets.

He will work with Daisy's chief executive Matthew Riley to develop business strategies for the firm ahead of a floatation on the AIM (Alternative Investment Market).

He said: "The past five years have been impressive and the company can boast excellent success. There are some really exciting plans I am looking forward to playing a part in."

As well as working in Asia, Mr McKenzie had worked for BT across Europe, getting companies to sign up for voice, data, broadband and complex solution services.

He has also worked for Kingston Communications and was the chairman of Karneval Media, the second largest cable TV company in the Czech Republic.

Daisy was set up by Mr Riley in 2001 and is located on the Lomeshaye Industrial Estate.

This year the company has completed some big contracts, including a £7.2million deal with communications company THUS.

It has also signed an exclusive deal with mobile distributor Unique Distribution and the acquisition of 360 customers from Preston-based YourTel.

Mr Riley said: "Ian has brought with him an abundance of experience from communications, media and broadcast sectors targeting large business, SMEs and consumer markets.

"The company has experienced rapid growth and massive success over the last six years and we feel we are in a position to push the company and further develop it, particularly with the arrival of Ian."
