MAYOR Lynda Byrne has her name up in flowers, in Queens Park, in honour of her role.

The annual design, which is created by Bolton Council's Neighbourhood Services team, is a welcome to the new mayor in office.

Created by different types of bedding plants, the floral display has the Bolton Crest and spells out 'Mayor of Bolton' and 'Cllr. L. Byrne'.

Cllr Byrne said: "It was a lovely surprise. The gardeners are magnificent and have done a fabulous job on it. I am really pleased with it.

"I was tempted to go and sneak a look at it before I was officially invited to it but I resisted."

The Mayor of Bolton has recently returned from a trip to Bolton's twinned town Paderborn, where she watched the (YPHIL) Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

She added: "John and I have been very busy and have attended more than 100 events.

"The trip to Paderborn and the orchestra were fabulous."
