A BOLTON businessman is hoping to help start up businesses in the town with the opening of 22 new offices after converting two Victorian properties.

Mr David Monks who is based in the Isle of Man, has transformed Westgate House in Chorley New Road, after spending £500,000 on a complete overhaul.

His company Keresforth Ltd has been responsible for the development of several local properties in the area including Vale House in Stoneclough.

Mr Monks started his career as a motor factors in Bury Road and still has a business in Accrington selling car parts.

He moved into the property business in 2000 and bought Westgate House in 2008. It was previously run as a beauty school.

He said: "It was two Victorian houses which are converted into one and it was a bit of a rabbit warren. Even I used to get lost."

Now the building which had been empty for three years, has been transformed into 22 offices.

Mr Monks said he took the plunge as the empty building was costing too much in rates.

He added: There are a lot of start up business and they have to start somewhere."

There is a board room, a video intercom system and parking. And the building also boast a grand stair case.

Mr Monks is planning an open day on August 2 from 5 to 6.30pm. tel To Let Bolton on 01204-282-122 for more details.
