CADETS have put their best foot forward on a fundraising challenge.

Fourteen volunteer Police Cadets from the Bolton unit walked more than eight miles from Bolton Central Police Station to Horwich Police Station.

The sponsored walk, which also saw them pay a visit to Astley Bridge Police Station, took 20,000 steps and four and half hours.

Money raised was split equally between funding for cadet activities and the North West Air Ambulance.

Bolton Volunteer Police Cadets Programme Lead, PC Jack Rotheram said: "The cadets are always enthusiastic when volunteering for a community event and were especially keen to raise money for the Air Ambulance charity.

"They have been gaining sponsorship from family and friends and really pushed themselves during the walk."

The volunteer Police Cadets is a scheme aimed at 13-18 year olds who have an interest in the Police, or other public services, or who have a desire to help their local communities through volunteer work.
