A TEENAGER who robbed a man while he was unconscious on the ground after an attack has been jailed for 45 months.

Brajen Drozt, 18, and a younger teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, rifled through the pockets of the man after attacking him outside the Last Orders pub in Blackburn.

Preston Crown Court heard Drozt and his friend had been arguing with Alexander Brown and another man and it had become physical.

Judge Pamela Badley, sentencing, said: “It was a potent mix of young people not able to handle the alcohol. The situation got ugly. The companion you had at the time punched Mr Brown and started it off. You jumped in.

“Mr Brown went to the ground. You also punched Taylor Vernon, who was with Mr Brown.

“He tried to get away but noticed you were hitting Mr Brown while he was on the ground and going through his clothing while he was unconscious.”

The incident was captured on CCTV and the teenagers were arrested.

The younger teen was given a youth referral order in the youth court and Drozt admitted robbery and assault.

But while he was on bail for those offences, Drozt got involved in a burglary with another man, Michael Vince, 32.

The pair broke into the home of a man and stole aftershave, Temazepam and cash in what Judge Badley said was “clearly a grudge of some sort.”

The householder, Ian Crossland, was at home and Vince hit him in the face with a glove.

The court heard Vince, of St Silas’ Rd, Blackburn, has two previous convictions for domestic burglary. Since his arrest, Drozt has been living in Colne and abiding by a curfew.

His lawyer Jon Close said: “He has done everything possible to turn his life around” after telling the court Drozt, of Burins Meadow, Colne, had become a heavy drinker when he turned 18.

Judge Badley jailed Drozt for 45 months and Vince for two and a half years. Both must pay a victim surcharge to the court.
