NEXT month, Bolton residents will be asked to take part in one of the most important votes in Britain’s recent history.

The historic referendum on the country’s relationship with the European Union will take place on Thursday June 23.

Voters will be asked a simple question, do you think we should remain part of a union of 28 countries or should we go it alone.

The options at the polling booth may be simple — either in or out — but the issue is complex and you will have already heard copious arguments from each side of the debate.

Over the next few weeks, we will attempt to provide as much information, views and opinions to help you make that all important choice.

But we need your help.

We would like to know which side of the debate you currently fall down on and you can tell us this by taking part in our week-long poll at theboltonnews.co.uk.

We would also like you to leave your comments below the poll as to why you have arrived at this decision.

This will help to shape our coverage and perhaps help others who are yet to make up their mind.

Remember, if you are not registered to vote in the EU referendum, you must do so by June 7 by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so make sure you play your part.
