A NEWLY-launched Bury company is tasting success in bringing the flavour of Italy to a growing band of local restaurants.
Anglo-Italia Foods was launched earlier this year when it opened a £300,000 warehouse at the Peel Mill Industrial Estate.
The business is the brainchild of Mr Pasquale Busiello who left his native Italy to settle in the UK 18 years ago.
The company, which Pasquale runs with business partner Norman Horton, imports and supplies a range of Italian foods and wines.
He said: "I work directly with four firms in Italy and buy products from there and sell them on from here.
"We already supply 22 restaurants, not just Italian ones but Asian too, and we are currently in negotiations with a major hotel chain. Among the products are tomatoes, frozen fish, bread, wine and coffee. There are around 30 lines altogether," said the 39-year-old business- man.
Pasquale spends one day a week in Italy making contact with the suppliers. The remainder of the time is spent going round his customers in the Bury area and taking their orders.
He went on: "Previously, I was a sales rep for another company and had also worked for Manchester Airport.
"And then one day I woke up and said that I must do something for myself. And that led to Anglo-Italia Foods."
Bury's outgoing mayor and mayoress, Councillor Jack Walton and Mrs Pat Walton, officially carried out the grand opening of the 3,000 sq ft warehouse.
