FIERCE winds, heavy rain and driving snow were no match for McFly frontman Danny Jones as he helped raise £370,000 charity.

The Bromley Cross singer and guitarist was among more than 1,000 players who took part in a mammoth 57-hour football match in Salford for Sports Relief, and he was one of only a handful of players to put in a 12-hour stint on the pitch.

The fact that Danny played on in freezing temperatures and snowfall drew special praise from former Leicester star Robbie Savage, whose team lost to a rival side captained by former England international Alan Shearer in the charity challenge.

Minutes after the match ended, Robbie Savage said: "A big well done to Danny for putting in that 12 hours. It wasn't easy in that weather."

The 57-hour length was chosen because that is how many hours a Premier League team plays over a full season

Danny, aged 29, took part alongside other famous faces including TV presenter Rachel Riley and Union J heartthrob Josh Cuthbert.

Of his experience, Danny said: "We've had rain, hail and snow. It feels like Christmas.

"It's been a painful couple of hours and I'm really feeling the pain but thanks very much to everyone for all your support, all your energy and all your donations."
