ONE of the Netherlands’ most prominent artists unveiled his new show at Bury Sculpture Centre last weekend.

Internationally-renowned Auke de Vries has previously created unique pieces in locations including Berlin, Barcelona and The Hague, and is hosting only his second UK show since 2001.

He has also been an advisor on the reconstruction of the city of Esslingen am Neckar, Germany, and was Professor of Fine Art at both the Royal Academy of Visual Arts, The Hague and at the Rijksacademie, Amsterdam.

Commissioned by Tony Trehy, Bury Art Museum director, the exhibition runs until June 4 and includes 25 works plus 20 framed drawings. Three new works have been made for this show, including a maquette for a potential new public art commission at Burrs Country Park.

The museum, in Moss Street, is open 10am-5pm Tuesday to Friday and from 10am-4.30pm on Saturdays.
