LET'S hope that the concert by BSO at Victoria Halls was the start of many such concerts.

The almost capacity audience which turned up on a cold night, proved the point.

If BSO wants to attract the audiences of the future, get them young and nurture their interest. If the many children sitting near to my wife and myself was anything to go by, they loved it and were amazed when the audience hummed along to to "There's no place like home" in the Proms style.

A suggestions for a couple of concerts, a Saturday afternoon on with a Proms finale and the first half being more film themes such as Pirates of the Caribbean and The Great Escape, aimed at children and parents.

The second concert aimed at pop fans with Lennon and McCartney and other likewise musicians.

Also a mention for Chris Wormald. I couldn't believe he was going to go through a concert without speaking. He manfaced it for the first half and then the humour followed and the audience loved it. I'm sure one day he will be awarded a medal for his contribution to music. Power to your baton.
