Bad driving

A MOTORCYCLIST whose bad driving resulted in a collision which injured a child on a Horwich road has been fined by magistrates.

Andrew Draper, aged 45, of Westmorland Road, Tyldesley, pleaded guilty to riding his BMW bike on Chorley Old Road without due care and attention on June 4 last year.

Bolton magistrates heard how Draper, riding a powerful BMW S1000R bike, was using excessive speed in a residential area and had headed directly at a bus.

He was fined £120, nine penalty points were added to his licence and he was ordered to pay £295 in costs and charges.

Stalker jailed

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 18 weeks after he bombarded a woman with texts and social media messages.

Guy Alam, aged 38, of Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, had denied assaulting the woman on August 15 and sending the messages over a four week period starting on September 19, but he was convicted following a trial.

Bolton magistrates were told that Alam had committed the offences whilst on bail and had taken no responsibility for his behaviour.

In addition to the prison sentence, he was ordered to pay his victim £100 compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting her.

Drugs forfeited 

A CANNABIS grower caught with 13 plants on November 13 has been sentenced to carry out 100 hours unpaid work.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Mark Gibson, aged 48, of Boscombe Gardens, Kearsley, admitted producing cannabis.

The court also ordered that the cannabis be forfeited and destroyed and that Gibson should pay £145 in costs and charges.

Assault

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for two years after he admitted assaulting a woman on November 19.

Darren Clarke, aged 41, of Trentham Walk, Farnworth was also made subject to a restraining order, banning him from contacting his victim or going to Gregson Field, Daubhill.

Home attack

A MAN who attacked a woman in her home has been sentenced to a suspended prison term.

Bolton magistrates heard that Adam Butler, aged 28, of Dunsop Drive, Johnson Fold, assaulted the woman in a "repeated and sustained" assault on November 21 which resulted in numerous minor injuries.

Butler pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.

He must also take part in a building better relations programme, undertake 25 days of rehabilitation activity and be subject to supervision by the probation service for 18 months,.

The court also ordered that he pay £165 costs and charges as well as £200 compensation to his victim and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting her or going to Hatfield Road, Bolton.

Car damage

MAGISTRATES have banned a man from contacting a woman after he made threats to damage her car.

Jason Wadsworth, aged 20, of Stonehill Road, Farnworth, admitted making the threats on December 11 last year and to causing damage, estimated at £375, to a cell door on December 14.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to court.

He was sentenced to spend 12 hours at an attendance centre and must pay £375 compensation plus £85 prosecution costs.

A restraining order was also made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Fairfield Road, Farnworth.

Assault discharge

A WOMAN who admitted assaulting a man in Bolton on February 3 last year has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 18 months.

At Bolton Magistrates Court Lina Nicolou, aged 51, of Tenterden Street, Bury, was also ordered to pay £215 in costs and charges and to pay her victim compensation of £200.
