FOOTAGE of two suspected thieves allegedly stealing a sledge has been viewed more than 3,000 times online.

Shopkeeper Ismail Bargit, who runs the Village DIY in Church Street, Little Lever, says the cameras show a man apparently stealing a £21.99 scooter sledge from his shop.

Greater Manchester Police are urging the men seen on the video to come forward.

Mr Bargit says the footage shows one of two men walking off with a sledge minutes after purchasing another.

The men are seen walking out of the shop before stopping to look at a sledge and taking it to a parked car.

Another person is also seen in the original footage — posted on YouTube — but is not connected with the incident.

Mr Bargit, who also runs a security firm, said: "The CCTV security cameras have been upgraded and it is a sign of the times we have to do this. I want whoever took the sledge to come back and pay for it.

"You feel disgusted that someone could do this and we have to have CCTV. You cannot trust people. We have had incidents like this before."

Mr Bargit said it was only when they noticed the sledge was missing that they checked the footage.

The video has been viewed more than 3,200 times online and has been posted on to the Little Lever Facebook page.

The incident has been reported to Greater Manchester Police.

A spokesman from GMP said: "This will now be passed to local divisional officers to investigate."

Insp Dave Henthorne, of Bolton South and Central Integrated Neighbourhood Policing Team, said officers would be visiting the shop as part of their inquiries.

He said: "We would ask the people to consider their position and come and see us rather than us going to look for them."
