FANS enjoyed plenty of fireworks at Gigg Lane last week — a Bonfire Night spectacular, followed by an FA Cup thrashing of Wigan.

A crowd of nearly 3,000 braved the elements for an evening of pyrotechnics and fairground fun on Thursday.

The club has built on the success of previous years and delivered a dazzling performance on the pitch, courtesy of Bury-based Magical Fireworks.

And the party atmosphere continued on Saturday as the Shakers swept aside Wigan Athletic 4-0 to progress to the second round of the FA Cup.

Visitors to the ground on Thursday enjoyed a real family occasion, with people of all ages enjoying the entertainment.

And when it came to the main event, no-one left disappointed, with a 30-minute show that light up the sky over Bury.

Daniel Bowerbank, Bury FC business development manager, said: “The event was a huge success, and the community really got behind the evening.

"The club has received superb feedback from many attendees both on the evening and through contact with the club since the event.

"We really stepped up the last one we hosted two years and we are looking at continuing to impress year on year.

"Almost 3,000 people attended, and with collaboration with the Bury Times, we have really shown what a professional and safe display can entail for such an event.”

Bury Times editor Mike Crutchley said: "I was pleased so many people ignored the rain and came out to enjoy a fantastic evening.

"The club pulled out all the stops and it was great that people could enjoy a spectacular fireworks show safely, which was the message we had been pushing throughout the Bonfire Night period.

"Everyone I spoke to had a great time and I can't wait for next year's show."
