Jason Donovan @ King George's Hall, Blackburn

FANS were taken back in time when Eighties pop star Jason Donovan came to town.

The Aussie heart-throb called into King George's Hall, Blackburn, last night on his UK tour - and wowed more than 1,500 fans with a pop-tastic live show.

"It's great to be back in Blackburn," he told fans.

"I'm a little older, a little wiser..." and it had to be said, a little balder.

But the former Neighbours star showed he still had what it took to get a room of girls screaming belting out all the hits, including Sealed With a Kiss and Every Day.

The crowd was made up of mothers and daughters, big groups of friends wearing pink cowboy hats... and even a few men thrown in for good measure.

Pals Denise Gaffing and Janet Horrocks stood outside King George's box office from 8.15am on the day tickets went on sale to ensure they got front-row seats for themselves and their 11 friends.

"This is a night to reminisce and we're here to remember the good old days," said Denise, 40, a community nurse from Wilpshire.

"Jason was one of my favourites in the Eighties. His music is poppy and fun and I admired the comeback he made on I'm A Celebrity."

"This is a great chance for us to meet up and have a laugh," agreed Janet, 40, from Mill Hill.

The women were among scores of fans who screamed themselves hoarse and wolf-whistled like there was no tomorrow to Jason's classic hits, mixed in with a few covers and some new material.

For the finale Jason came on in his Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat jacket, stripped to a jungle vest and Aussie cork hat to sing Any Dream Will Do.
