A STAR-studded line up has been revealed for the official switch-on of Blackburn’s Christmas lights next month.

Britain’s Got Talent judge and pop star Alesha Dixon tops the bill for the annual event which will be staged this year on Thursday, November 19.

Organised by Blackburn Business Improvement District (BID), the event outside the town hall in King William Street will be hosted by funnyman Ted Robbins who has previously starred in Phoenix Nights, The Slammer and Coronation Street.

Alesha Dixon, who is headlining the two-hour show, is also known for winning and then becoming a judge on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, She is currently touring the UK to promote her new single, Tallest Girl in the World Also performing will be X Factor’s Jake Quickenden, singer Ella Shaw from Langho, Britain’s Got Talent’s BGT singer Henry Gallagher, and girl band, Tiger Heart.

Ella, who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, reaching the semi-finals, said: “I’m really looking forward to it and it’s going to be amazing.

“I love performing in this part of Lancashire as the support I get is fantastic.

“It will be nice to see Alesha again and she was really nice when I was on the show in May.

“She supported me a lot during the show so it will be great to catch up with her again.

“This is another learning curve for me and it will be great to take part in such a big event so close to home.”

Special guests will include former World Superbike champion and King of the Jungle, Carl Fogarty, soap star, Peter Gunn and Alex Bain who is well known for his portrayal of Simon Barlow on Coronation Street.

Also appearing will be the children’s television show characters, Small and Tiny from the Clangers, who will be meeting and greeting families before the show in The Mall at 2pm and in Blackburn Market Mall at 4pm.

Last year X factor twins Jedward flicked the switch.
