HUNDREDS of people got their best throwing arm ready for this year's World Black Pudding Throwing Championships.

Families came from far and wide to witness the original 'War of the Roses' competition in Ramsbottom — where people compete to knock stacks of giant Yorkshire puddings from a 20ft-high plinth using nothing but black puddings.

Crowds gathered to watch previous world champion Huseyin Ozluk, from Ramsbottom, while eight-year-old Callum Duncan, from Tonge Moor, showed him how it should be done.
