AS PART of a new series of features, Your Sport will be chatting to local managers about their respective clubs giving information about how their season is progressing and any other bits of information around the grounds.

This week, we talk to Ross McNair about taking over at West Lancashire League Division One outfit Tempest United and find out more about his hopes for the season.

Ross also goes in front of the camera in a video online talking about the club so check out our website: www.theboltonnews.co.uk.

Pre-season has gone really well for us.

We have brought in quite a lot of new faces and lads from NW Counties to Evostik League and then another positive is that we have maintained the squad from last year.

We have got a lot of good people at club.

We had a bit of a nightmare against Atherton Collieries in pre-season but we had a good result against Prestwich and Lostock St Gerrards.

We drew our first game against Wyre Villa which I saw as two points dropped but we did well against Ladybridge last Tuesday.

Kurt (Farlow) had a good game as the first half progressed and started to attack down the right.

He is a really talented player and I don’t think he realises how good on the ball he is as he joined from Breightmet United.

I think he was not used to the standard when he came here but I think he will learn here and will be playing North West Counties football in years to come.

Phil Howard was also impressive during the Ladybridge game as he did not stop while Matty Carter got the goal and caused a few problems for teams as he not just a big front-man.

He also proved he is good with his feet too.

He was missing during pre-season and I could not play him in the first game as you have reward the players who have been there in pre-season.

The good thing is that we have a lot of North West Counties experience in our side.

There is a difference between our standard and North West Counties as they have helped make us switch on and focus and I thought Sam Darby who was at Atherton LR with me was great at leading the defence against Ladybridge.

We have another derby tonight against Turton and it is a massive game.

I think Bolton football is going to be good this season with all three of us – Ladybridge, Turton and ourselves up there trying to get promoted.
