A BOLTON IT worker has been charged with fraud by abuse of position.

Susan Elaine Rennie, a purchase ledger supervisor at health IT provider Ascribe, is due to appear at Bolton Magistrates' Court on August 25.

Her charge relates to a police investigation into reports that more than £580,000 in fraudulent transactions were carried out at the Bolton firm.

Rennie, aged 51, is accused of defrauding over a five-year period, from October, 2009 to September, 2014.

The charge against Rennie, of Martin Avenue, follows a probe by Greater Manchester Police's Fraud Investigation Team.

The police probe led to the arrest of Rennie in Lytham, Blackpool, her hometown, in March this year.

A police spokesman confirmed that Rennie was an employee of the firm in question during the relevant period.

Ascribe, based in Brancker Street near the Chequerbent roundabout, merged with Yorkshire group Emis Health in 2013.

The company provides prescription, administration and accident and emergency systems to NHS trusts, and still operates as Ascribe Ltd but part of the Emis Health group.

A police spokesman said: "The charge follows an investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Fraud Investigation Team into reports that more than £580,000 worth of fraudulent transactions had been carried out at an IT company based in Bolton."

Emis Health declined to comment.
