A 28-year-old woman kicked a taxi about 15 times during a row with her boyfriend, who was inside, a court was told.
Blackburn magistrates heard that single mum Nicola Louise Robinson had been given the chance to avoid her first conviction by the offer of a caution on condition she paid the £375 costs of repairs within a specified per-iod.
But Clare Knight, defending, said: "As a single mum dependent on benefits she couldn't afford to pay for the conditional caution."
Robinson, of Down-ham Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
She was ordered to pay £375 compensation at £5 a week with not other penalty.
