BLACKBURN’S ice hockey team is making sure it caters for its biggest fans – and we really do mean biggest fans.

The Hawks’ 2015-16 shirt designs were released this week with sizes ranging from baby and toddler to 5XL.

It follows news that Premier League football clubs are also catering for bigger fans.

Arsenal, Aston Villa and promoted Norwich City are selling 6XL replica tops while Tottenham and Leicester stock 5XL club jerseys.

An Arsenal store worker said: “They go up to 6XL – it's for a 59 to 62 inch chest. I don’t think we sell a lot of them but probably a few.”

Blackburn Rovers supporters are only able to buy an XXL of their new home kit, with fans who travel to watch the side able to buy an XXXL for the away strip.

But Burnley supporters, despite following a club that has an official sports nutrition supplier, may just have some on the larger side – the club shop stocks 5XL tops.

Both the Hawks’ home and away strips feature #10JA maple leaf over the left breast as a tribute to former star Jon Adams, who committed suicide earlier this month.

A spokesman for the club said: “Following on from the spectacularly successful 25th Anniversary Game and following feedback from the players and fans alike, this year the home shirt is predominantly off-white, the same as the Anniversary Home shirt.

“For the away shirt, we have also gone in a slightly different direction, and have gone for a monochrome silver look over black with red accents.

“As well as these all-new colour schemes, we have gone for the lace-shirts that were featured in the Anniversary Game.

“Everyone who saw them or was lucky enough to win one in the auction said that they preferred this style of shirt to the laceless, so we have listened.”

The first batch of the new kits will be available to order from August 15 and the prices include names and numbers.

Shirt orders are expected to arrive before the first home league game in September.
