POLICE scored a substance hat-trick when they stopped a BMW in Garden Street.
Blackburn magistrates heard the occupants of the car ran off but the driver was detained and found to be in possession of cannabis and amphetamine and over the drink-drive limit.
Thomasz Romaniszyn, aged 30, of French Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and possession of the two drugs.
He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months, fined £250 and ordered to pay £85 costs, £85 victim surcharge and £150 criminal court charge. He was banned from driving for 12 months.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police saw the BMW being driven at excess speed and turned to give chase.The car stopped and three men got out and ran off.
