TWO Burnley butchers have brought home prizes from a prestigious award ceremony.
GT&L Heys Family Butcher was 'Category Champion' at the North West Regional Roadshow and Product Evaluation Event, organised by the British Pig Executive at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.
A total of 44 butchers entered more than 260 products, 79 of which achieved gold awards and over a third silver.
Father and son duo George and Danny Heys submitted eight products, seven of which scored 95 or more out of 100 to achieve gold.
But it was their home cured gammon' which impressed the judges to take the champion title in the category of the same name.
George said: "We're delighted, especially as this is the first time we've entered gammon into an evaluation, so to not only achieve gold but also become a category champion is fantastic."
Stephen Berkins, Rosegrove Lane, picked up two gold awards for bacon.
