TWO sisters are throwing a day-long party in memory of their mother who would have been 50 this summer.

Rachael Barrett and Jessica Healey have teamed up with Tottington United Football Club on Saturday to host the event as part of the club's annual fundraiser in memory of past members.

Proceeds from the event will be split between the club and the two charities that supported Amanda Healey in her fight against lung cancer - Macmillan Cancer Support and Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Ms Healey died in January 2014 at the age of 48.

The event kicks off with a charity football match with local rivals Walshaw at the Laurel Street club, starting from 12.30pm and includes a bouncy castle and tombola.

The fundraising day will move to Tottington Conservative Club, in Royds Street, from 7.30pm with a singer, comedian, raffle and supper.

Spectators can attend the football match for free, and entry to the evening of entertainment costs £10.

Jessica said: "We wanted to mark what would've been a really special birthday for mum and we couldn't think of a better way to do it than with a day-long party.

“Anyone who knew her would remember her fondness of a good party that got all her friends and family together and we hope we can raise a brilliant amount for the charities that were a huge support to all of us.”

Prizes on offer at the tombola and raffle include a variety of hair and beauty gift vouchers, handmade jewellery, two tablet computers and a digital camera.
