DARWEN MP Jake Berry has offered his support to the family of 20-year-old Mason Ralph, who was critically injured in a quad biking accident in Greece.

The family and friends of Mason, of Marsh House Lane, this week launched a fundraising campaign to bring Mason back to the UK.

A spokesman from Mr Berry’s office said: “The family haven’t approached Jake for his help as yet, but we are here if we can help at all. If there is anything we can do to help the family he will do. We have helped with instances like this. At the moment the British Embassy is being helpful.

“We have been approached by councillor Julie Slater who is trying to help raise money to contribute to the cost of getting him home. Jake would be happy and willing to help with this.

“Although the family have not been in touch, the offer is there is they need Jake’s assistance. The initial work will be done by the embassy. Jake will only get involved if they’re having difficulties getting assistance for him.”

Mason Ralph was on holiday with five friends in Malia on the island of Crete when he lost control of the four-wheeled bike he was riding.

He was left with life-threatening injuries including a triple fracture of the neck, a punctured lung, liver damage and possible brain damage, but is making a promising recovery.
