Spend a spooky night in haunted historic hall

GHOSTS hunters are being sought to spend a spine chilling night at Bolton's haunted Smithills Hall.

The event on Friday, May 25, is being organised to raise cash for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

There will be a guided tour of the hall and its ghosts with private access to its most haunted areas. Mediums will be at the event and there will be a final grand séance.

The hall which dates back to the 14th century and is a Grade 1 listed building, is reputed to have several ghosts including a lady in 17th century dress seen on the stairs, the spirit of a small boy with long dark curly hair has been felt in the solar room and in the church, a grey lady has been seen sitting in the front pew.

Ruth Carter, fundraising manager for the Anthony Nolan Trust said, "Staff have complained of feeling uneasy in some parts of the building and objects have been moved in certain rooms. This night is not for the faint-hearted and promises to be an evening you will never forget."

Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Participants will be asked to raise sponsorship of at least £125 to help take back lives from leukaemia.

To join the Anthony Nolan Register donors must be aged between 18 and 40 and in good health. The charity is urging more young men to join its bone marrow register. Only 11 per cent of its register currently consists of young men aged between 18 and 35. However, 75 per cent of those who go on to donate and save lives are men.
