PLANS have been submitted to build four new houses on land that used to be part of Amtrack Buildings, in Holly Mount Way, Rawtenstall.

A spokesman for the applicant said: "It is proposed to erect two pairs of semi-detached dwellings (three bedroom) and associated tree planting/landscaping at land to the east of Holly Mount House, previously part of land associated with the 'Amtrack' buildings/Lower Mills.

"Access would be from St Mary’s Way via the Asda road. Vehicular access from Haslingden Old Road and into the site still exists although it is not proposed to utilise this land for access purposes.

"The proposal also includes the planting of semi mature trees to the west /south of the proposed houses and the formation of a new residential access road from the Asda access road.

"The latter would be screened from view with the use of planting and as a result of the contours of the land.

"A small number of new whip trees may need to be re-planted but many would be retained and the proposed tree planting areas would more than compensate for any minor loss."
