A BLOGGER who has touched the lives of mothers up and down the country has been nominated for a prestigious award.

Susanne Remic has been shortlisted with five other blogs for the best pregnancy blog award for the Mum and Dad (MAD) Blog Awards.

The winner of the award is decided by the public, and Mrs Remic is calling on people to vote for her ahead of the deadline at midnight on Friday night.

More than 200,000 nominations were submitted in the awards this year, with just 75 blogs reaching the finals in different categories.

The mother of four started writing a blog in 2010 as a way of dealing with a problematic pregnancy and difficulties arising from the birth of her son.

She suffered from severe morning sickness, similar to that which recently affected the Duchess of Cambridge during her pregnancy, and used the blog as a way of coping.

The blog, named Ghostwritermummy, has since gone from strength to strength and now receives about 800 views a day from readers across the world.

She gave up her job as a teacher at St Michael's Primary School in Great Lever to care for her children and write the blog, which she now makes a living from.

Mrs Remic, from Bradshaw, said: "I had a bit of a rubbish pregnancy, and it was just a way of getting my feelings down on paper, and it has expanded since then."

The blog has become influential in online pregnancy circles and the family have been offered holidays, baby products and the use of cars all bidding to gain coverage on the blog.

She added: "I never realised the world of pregnancy blogs was as big and intense as it is, but it has had an amazing effect on our lives."

Mrs Remic, aged 37, recently travelled to London for the finals of another blog competition, the Brilliance in Blogging Awards, in which her blog was shortlisted but did not win.

However she is hoping for a more positive result when the results of the MAD Blog Awards are announced in September.

Sally Whittle, founder of the MAD Blog Awards, said: "The MAD Blog Awards celebrates the thousands of parents up and down the country who have discovered blogging as a way to capture family memories and make new friends.

"The standard of entries this year was incredible, and we’re so impressed with all the finalists’ blogs."
