Acclaimed house and electronica producer Matthew Herbert has been moonlighting as a soundtrack composer.

Score is a varied collection of 17 tracks from a variety of (mostly obscure) films of the last ten years.

The compositions are much more straightforward than his usual leftfield approach: it's telling that the most interesting track - Blood and Hair - was actually rejected by the producers of the film for which it was intended.

Undoubtedly this music worked well on film - Herbert's Vida Y Color soundtrack was award-winning - but Score misses the listen-alone charm of a Morricone, Elfman or even Mogwai soundtrack.
